Production Process

Production Process

Understanding the production process helps you plan better, set realistic timelines, and make informed design decisions. This guide walks through every step from artwork approval to final delivery for custom medals, coins, and similar metal products.

Step 1: Artwork and Design

Send us your logo, sketch, or idea. Our designers create a digital proof showing the medal layout, colors, plating, and dimensions. Revisions are made until you approve the final design.

Step 2: Mold Making

Approved artwork is converted into a 3D model and used to machine a steel mold. Mold making typically takes 5-7 days for standard designs. Complex 3D shapes or multiple pieces may require additional time.

Step 3: Casting or Stamping

Zinc alloy products are die-cast by injecting molten metal into the mold. Brass, copper, and iron products are stamped or struck. The raw metal pieces are then trimmed, deburred, and prepared for finishing.

Step 4: Polishing and Surface Prep

Parts are polished by machine or hand to achieve the desired surface smoothness. This step removes mold lines, scratches, and rough edges before plating.

Step 5: Plating

Cleaned parts are electroplated with gold, silver, nickel, copper, black nickel, or antique finishes. Plating thickness and bath composition affect color, durability, and cost.

Step 6: Color Filling

Recessed areas are filled with enamel or printed colors. Soft enamel is air-dried and fired. Imitation hard enamel is polished flat with the metal surface. Each color requires a separate step.

Step 7: Inspection and Packaging

Finished pieces are inspected for defects, measured for size, and checked against approved samples. Approved products are packed according to your chosen packaging option.
